Final Round: Since the 2009 Kaiser Cup, the Assistant Team has been consecutively taking the spoils of victory. The Member Team has been competitive throughout that span of time but probably not as much as today. The ultimate outcome was the same as the past six years, the Assistant Team has won again, but this was the closest finish possible for a team to have an outright win. Except for the first match of the day where the victory came after only 13 holes (Kleinsasser def. Wolfe 6&5), all of the other matches were very close with three of them finishing all square. One of the highlights for the day was featuring the Assistant Team Captain, Blake Watts, on his birthday. His team squeaked out enough points for the victory and to help him celebrate a special day.

During the fall of 1995, a group of Kentucky PGA members got together to discuss forming a competition that allowed head professionals to compete against assistant professionals in a match play format. That event has blossomed over the past 20 years and is annually conducted as the Kaiser Cup. Named after Bill Kaiser, Kentucky Golf Hall of Famer, the competition is held over two days with ten representatives on each team. This year the matches will again be played at Belterra Resort Golf Club on Monday & Tuesday, April 13-14. The format includes a nine-hole four-ball and nine-hole foursome team match play on the first day. Players are provided overnight accommodations at Belterra Resort and continue the competition to it’s conclusion on Tuesday with single matches. Designed by legend Tom Fazio, this world-class championship course was ranked in the top 20 casino golf courses in the U.S. by Golfweek. Created to highlight the natural surroundings, winding through lakes and over 2,200 trees, the par 71 course challenges players with water hazards and bunkers set amidst the beautiful rolling hills.
