Preview: 105th Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur
The 105th Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur, one of the country’s most storied amateur championships, will soon commence. Country Club of Paducah in western Kentucky will host the event for the fourth time (1986, 1994, 2008) on June 18-20. Four-time PGA Tour winner Steve Flesch and Daniel Utley who won the 1986 and 1994 editions, respectively, will not be in the field, however, 2008 champion Tyler Sharpe will be playing and a part of one of two featured groups in the first two rounds.
For the first time in the championship’s history, past winners of the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur will be paired together during the opening rounds. The aforementioned Sharpe will join Andy Roberts (2016) and Jordan Blann (2008, 2009) at 12:55 p.m CDT on Tuesday afternoon. Proceeding them at 12:45 p.m CDT is the group of Paducah’s very own Jim Brown (1977, 1981, 1982), Buddy Bryant (1996, 1998) and Thomas Campbell (2014). Other notable names playing in the event include these players:
- Robert Crockett - played in the 2019 US Four-Ball Championship
- Alex Doss – member of the Northern Kentucky Norse men’s golf team
- Denver Haddix – played in the 2019 US Four-Ball Championship
- C.M Mixon – member of the Louisville Cardinals men’s golf team
- Matthew Troutman – participant in the 2019 Drive Chip & Putt National Championship
156 players from across the state will make their way to Paducah in hopes of adding their name to the long list of history this championship carries. 54 holes of stroke play will be the format contested to determine a champion. After the completion of the second round, a cut will be made to the top 70 players and ties.
