Kentucky Women's Open Preview

After last week’s centennial edition of the Kentucky Open, attention now shifts towards the ladies for this week’s Women’s Kentucky Open. The 23rd edition of this championship will take place at Frankfort Country Club for the first time. Thirty-six holes of stroke play will determine the year’s champion beginning with the first round on Tuesday, August 6 and culminating with the final round on Wednesday, August 7.

Thirteen professionals and forty-seven amateurs make up this week’s sixty-person field seeking to capture the state’s most prestigious female championship. Only one past champion is in the field, being Christine Lindsey who won in 2002 at Champion Trace Golf Club. Each of the combatants will begin their march to this year's title off the first tee between 8:00 a.m. EDT and 11:10 a.m. EDT on Tuesday morning. The round one tee sheet can be found here.

Frankfort Country Club will play approximately 5,877 yards with the front nine measuring close to 2,924 yards while the back nine will be nearly 2,953 yards. The total par will be 72 with each nine playing as a par 36. Players can expect to find a strong challenge from the undulated greens and tricky angles that present themselves on numerous holes. Consequently, course management will be at a premium for players on this Scruggs & Hammond design opened in 1973.

Golf House Kentucky’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages will have complete coverage throughout the competition and a live video on Facebook showing the finish on Wednesday afternoon. Fans can join the conversation using the hashtag #KYWomensOpen. For complete coverage of the Kentucky Women’s Open, click here.
