LOUISVILLE, KY – At the wrap-up of the first day of the Kentucky Four-Ball Championship, the Open Flight scores are as close as they get. With Michael Crabtree, Lexington, and partner Chandler Morgan, Lexington, in the lead with a score of 7-under-par 64. Brothers Todd and Tyler McDaniel of Manchester are just two strokes behind at 66. The next 3 teams are separated by only 1 stroke between them. With results this tight, Crabtree/Morgan may not be comfortable at the top for long.
Four-Ball is two-person team event. Both players play their own ball, with the team score being the best ball of the two players. Four-Ball is considered by players of all ages and skill to be a fun and challenging format.
In the Players Flight, today’s results were not quite as close as the Open Flight but there is still room for any team to pull ahead. Scott Cheatham and Aaron Yarmuth finished the afternoon in the lead with a score of even-par 71, with Davis Bolin and Justin Boyd following closely behind with 73.
Consistent with the theme of stiff competition, none of the first five teams in the Seniors Flight were more than 1 stroke apart. Terry Lester and Bill Sergent are leading with a score of 4-under-par 67.
Lastly, the Masters Flight consisted of three teams, with Danny Ashlock and Joe Hovekamp earning the lead with an even par 72. Ashlock/Hovecamp hold a two-stroke lead over cousins, George and Fred Gupton.
The final round of the Kentucky Four-Ball Tournament will be tomorrow, June 2nd, starting at 8am. Follow the scores live at kygolf.org.
