2022 KGA Schedule Unveiled
Kentucky Golf Association announces 2022 tournament schedule.
LOUISVILLE, KY (January 19, 2022) – One of the most comprehensive tournament schedules in the history of the Kentucky Golf Association awaits amateur golfers this year.
The KGA’s 2022 slate of events has been released with a surplus of playing opportunities available to golfers of the Commonwealth. For the second straight year, Country Club of Paducah will be the first playing opportunity for amateurs in Golf House Kentucky Classic #1. That event takes place on April 11 and between then and October 18, the last scheduled date of competition, more than thirty tournaments are scheduled to take place.
Headlining the list of events are the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Championship Series tournaments which range from June through October. The 108th playing of the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur starts that list with Indian Hills Country Club poised to host the marquee competition for the first time on June 14-16.
One week later, the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Women’s Amateur will be at Cherry Blossom Golf Club on June 20-22. Senior amateur competitions will then be held late in the summer, with the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Senior Amateur being contested at Kearney Hill Golf Links on August 15-16. That will be followed by the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Senior Women’s Amateur at Elizabethtown Country Club on September 13-14.
The Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Mid-Am rounds out that list of events at South Park Country Club on October 10-11. That event’s place in the calendar marks one of multiple notable date changes in this year’s KGA schedule compared to those from years past. After being played in August each of the last two seasons, the State Mid-Am now serves as a late-season major for players.
Conversely, the Kentucky Match Play Championships move from July to May and will be one of the premier trophies available early in the season. Griffin Gate Golf Club will be that tournament’s site on May 17-19. With these adjustments, golfers will find the most prestigious championships more spread out through the year as opposed to being lodged into June, July or August.
Later this winter, golfers can also expect several other events to be added to the schedule when events for the Western Kentucky Am Series are finalized.
The current schedule can be found below. Please note that all dates and venues are subject to change. USGA and PGA TOUR Qualifiers are italicized while majors are denoted with bold text.
