Susan Stewart Succeeds in Defending the Women's Kentucky Senior Amateur

BRONSON, KY (September 13, 2023) – Susan Stewart succeeded today in defending the title of Clark's Pump-N-Shop Women's Kentucky Senior Amateur champion at Woodson Bend Resort in Bronson. She becomes the fourth player to win this event in three or more consecutive years. Stewart adds this title to her 2023 accomplishments that also include a Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame induction.

After an opening round 75 separated her from the rest of the field by three, a second round 83 tied her with fellow three-time consecutive champion Jessica Cornelius (78-80-158). The women were paired together today, teeing off on the first hole in their shotgun start. Stewart struggled at the beginning, losing strokes until hole 6 where she carded a birdie. Cornelius opened with a birdie en route to a 39 on the first nine. A back nine 42 for Stewart and 41 for Cornelius tied the women for first for the tournament, with a playoff determining Stewart as the champion. The playoff occurred on hole 18, with Stewart scoring a 5 compared to Cornelius’ 6 to win.
