Lindsay Gahm and Joan Gossett Oates Qualify for U.S. Women's Mid-Am at Wildwood
Kentucky’s Gahm and Tennessee’s Oates qualify for U.S. Women’s Mid-Am at Wildwood.
LOUISVILLE, KY (August 25, 2022) – Louisville native Lindsay Gahm is through to the U.S. Women’s Mid-Am after snagging medalist honors in Louisville at Wildwood Country Club. The 2009 KHSAA State champion plus Joan Gossett Oates of Collierville, Tennessee clinched the two automatic berths in what will be the final USGA National Championship of the year at Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Meyers, Florida on September 17-22.
Gahm recorded two birdies during her round to finish as the low lady, clipping Oates by two strokes. For Gahm, a Sacred Heart alumna who played most of her college golf at LSU, this autumn’s Mid-Am will be her first instance competing in this championship. As for Oates, who once went thirteen years in between USGA National Championship appearances, it will be a familiar, yet still coveted experience for the 40-year-old whose story exemplifies the beauty of the U.S. Mid-Am Championships.
Should an alternate’s number be called, Paxton Manns of Greenwood, Indiana will be first in line while Bowling Green’s Erin Lanphear is the second alternate from this event.

The Kentucky Golf Association extends its thanks to Josh Griffin, PGA Head Golf Professional and the entire staff at Wildwood Country Club for their assistance in conducting today’s qualifier. Additionally, the KGA lends its appreciation to each player who competed in the event.
This was the penultimate USGA qualifier for women in Kentucky this season. The last of which takes place in just under a month when Lexington Country Club serves as host site to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Qualifier on September 23. Competitors in that event will pair up in teams of two striving to gain a place in the first USGA National Championship that will be held in 2023.
