Assistants/Associates Win Back Kaiser Cup with Two-Point Victory

Captain Iceman secures clinching point for Assistants/Associates in Kaiser Cup.

FLORENCE, IN (April 4, 2023) – A four-year drought for the Assistants and Associates of the KPGA at the Kaiser Cup was snapped on Tuesday at Belterra Golf Club. Captained by 2022 ROLEX Assistant Player of the Year Daniel Iceman III, PGA, his team won back the Kaiser Cup by a score of 8.5-6.5 with Iceman winning the decisive point.

The Assistants/Associates entered Tuesday’s singles matches with a 3-2 lead after Monday’s four-ball matches and needed 8 total points to reclaim the trophy. John Vidal, Sean Miller, Gabe Wheeler, and Jeremy Martin each won their respective matches to begin that quest, and a tied match from Chad Douglas, PGA assured the Members could only retain the Kaiser Cup at best.

In the final match, Iceman squared off against his 2022 Player of the Year counterpart in Jesse Massie, PGA in a duel of the two captains. Both players traded birdies across the golf course as each player shot matching scores of 67 (-4), but Iceman was able to pull ahead on the match scorecard and edge Massie 1 UP.

The victory for the Assistant/Associate team ups their lead in the event’s history to 15-12 and puts them back on top for the first time since 2017.
