Sara Stephens, PGA, Her Son Nolan, Plus Ramage and Luebbers Win Pro-Junior presented by Titleist

Sara Stephens, PGA guides team to victory in Pro-Junior presented by Titleist.

LOUISVILLE, KY (July 18, 2022) – In the second year of its revival, the Pro-Junior presented by Titleist was won by Sara Stephens, PGA, Reagan Ramage, Zoe Luebbers, and Nolan Stephens. But each of the 24 teams who participated on Monday at The Standard Club were winners on a day that displayed golf’s finest qualities.

The scramble tournament featuring one KPGA Member/Associate with three junior golfers was the recipe for a surplus of laughs, smiles, high-fives, and cheerleading among each of the 96 golfers teeing it up, regardless of if they were just beginning the game or enjoying retirement. Golf served as a common bond towards friendship and enjoying the little things in life during this tournament – a timeless quality that will continue when today’s juniors are mentoring players a generation or two beneath them in the decades to come.

It was Stephens along with her son Nolan, Ramage and Luebbers who collected the hardware post-event to add to their enjoyment for the day. The foursome recorded a score of 56 (-16) which got them a one-shot victory over Chris Schuler, PGA, Finn Johnson, Emma Lindemoen, and Gage Miziguichi.

The winning squad combined for fourteen birdies and an eagle on the par-five 17th during their round. They made birdies on every hole on the front nine aside from the 4th with the back nine consisting of just two pars in between a litany of circles.

NOTES & STATS

  • The day got off to a literal perfect start from Carson Long. He and his group began the shotgun start on the par-three 15th and Long holed his tee shot, giving him a hole-in-one with his first swing of the day.
  • Adding to the impressiveness of that ace was the fact hole 15 played as the hardest of the tournament. Its stroke-to-par average was -0.21.
  • The par-five 17th was feasted on by the field as it played the easiest of the day. Four eagles and seventeen birdies led to it playing -1.04.
  • In terms of their scores to-par, both sides played to about the same difficulty. Holes 1-9 had an average score of 30.01 (-4.99) versus 31.91 (-5.09) on holes 10-18.
