Moore/Newcomb Take Final KPGA Tournament Prize of 2021

LEXINGTON, KY (October 26, 2021) - Mitchell Moore and Nick Newcomb are the final winners of a memorable 2021 tournament slate within the Kentucky PGA. The two western Kentucky pros made the trip to Greenbrier Golf & Country Club and were rewarded with the title in the Pro-Pro Series Championship presented by Golf Pro Payments. Additionally, Newcomb took low professional honors in the event individually.

Moore/Newcomb started the final round tied for the lead with two other teams and were even-par after six holes. At that point, they were three shots behind the defending champions Myles Mahan and Jesse Massie. But the remaining two-thirds of the round went exceptionally well for Moore/Newcomb, a stretch led by four straight holes with a birdie. A birdie from Newcomb on their 15th hole of the day was the deciding blow, as they would prevail by a stroke over Mahan/Massie.

The individual prize in the tournament offered more cushion to Newcomb, as he earned victory by three shots over Massie after finishing the tournament at 138 (-6). Newcomb shot 68 (-4) on Tuesday which was the low round of the tournament. More impressively, Newcomb opened the final round with bogeys on each of the opening holes and proceeded to play the remaining sixteen holes in six-under par.

Honors for the low senior professional were decidedly won in the favor of Bruce Oldendick, who won by eight shots over Tim Reeves and Al Chrouser. Oldendick started the day tied with Chrouser and Eric Gilliland but used three birdies within the first seven holes to scoot in front of the competition. It ended up being a round of 74 (+2) for Oldendick to claim his latest senior trophy in a lucrative 2021 season for him.
