Success at the Pro-Official/Superintendent at Woodhaven CC

LOUISVILLE, KY (August 14, 2023) - After a tussle with Mother Nature lead to a two-hour delay at the Pro-Official/Superintendent tournament Presented by AndersonOrd and Club Car, the first iteration of this tournament was a success. Congratulations to Richard Schmitt III and Chance Maguire for winning in a scorecard playoff.

This event saw professionals from courses all around pair up with a superintendent or official from their course or elsewhere. The event was originally scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., but heavy rains forced the starting time for the shotgun until 11 a.m.

Despite this, many teams saw success at Woodhaven Country Club. A total of five teams tied at the top with a score of 7-under 65 - Andrew Stephens and Jerod Cahill, Schmitt and Maguire, Chandler Morgan and Dennis Booth, Jesse Massie and Lee Wigley, and Tom Walters and Matt Ford. Each team had an incredible showing today, mixing lost strokes from bogeys and doubles with a multitude of birdies to make up for it. Schmitt and Maguire ultimately took home the hardware in the scorecard playoff, but all groups split the prize money and the title.

In addition to the team competition, the day featured a few others. Woodhaven pro Jesse Massie won the low professional with a 68, while Darren Wittenburg and Dan Utley did so for the seniors with a 2-under 70. Holes 12 and 17 also featured a closest-to-the-pin competition, with Alec Fields sticking it to 1'11" on 12 and Mitchell Moore to 7'2" on 17.
