Watts/Watts/Butler/Kelso Win Shortened 2x2 Pro-Am Titles
LOUISVILLE, KY (June 29, 2020) – A great day at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club for the 2x2 Pro-Am presented by Sun Mountain became gloomy at day’s end as a major thunderstorm approached the facility which forced a suspension of play that would not allow the groups remaining on the golf course to complete their rounds. The unfortunate turn of events means that the tournament will be scored as a nine-hole competition and the field’s back nine scores will not be counted.
The change results in the team of Logan Watts, Blake Watts, J.M. Butler, and Jeff Kelso winning both the gross and net competitions of the team event. The team’s gross score for the nine holes was 62 (-10), which clipped Grove Justice, Scott Webb, Justin Tereshko, and Tristyn Nowlin by one stroke. The net score from the winning team came to be 60 (-10) which topped Chad Douglas, Nathan Hincks, P.J. McDougal, and Kevin Thomas by two strokes.
Blake Watts and Chad Douglas will split the low professional title after each player shot 32 (-4) on Persimmon Ridge’s outward nine. Grover Justice and Nathan Downs each finish one stroke behind in a tie for third having each shot 33 (-3).
The Section would like to thank Paul Branlund and Sun Mountain for their support of the event along with Steve Shafer, PGA and his staff at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club for hosting today’s competition. The KPGA will be back in action next Monday for the Pro-Lady Championship at Greenbrier Golf & Country Club.
