Bill Coomer To Retire Next Spring
Golf House Kentucky's long-time Director of Amateur-Professional Competitions, Bill Coomer, PGA will retire next spring. Bill began his role in January 1995 and after what will be 26 years in the position, advance to the next stage in life come April 2021.
"I remember the first day on the job in January of 1995 and the immediate need to fill the year with tournament sites and events that had not already been planned," Coomer said. "The math is far from accurate but somewhere near 2500 tournament days have been on my schedule since then which include amateur and professional championships, USGA and PGA Tour qualifiers, college and high school competitions and charity events that raised millions of dollars. I’ve even had the chance to serve as a tournament official at a PGA of America Senior Professional Championship and a USGA State Team Championship. A huge thanks to the men who have been at the helm of Golf House Kentucky (Mike Donahoe, Mark Hill, Steve McMillen, Brent Paladino and Jeff Adkerson). Each one of you have given me responsibilities beyond measure, training to advance in the industry and so many other opportunities to grow personally and professionally so I could make my own contributions to this business. I cannot thank you enough for trusting me with this position."
The Kentucky PGA Section, Kentucky Golf Association and Kentucky Golf Foundation have been well-served under Bill's guidance and his impact on golfers goes beyond measure. We look forward to the remaining half-year with Bill and congratulate him on a tremendous career along with his pending retirement.
