Four KPGA Professionals Competed in PGA Professional Championship

UPDATE: Unfortunately, each of the four KPGA representatives missed the 36-hole cut in the PGA Professional Championship. Paladino led the way amongst the KPGA contingent with a score of 150 (+7).

Kentucky’s top PGA Professionals are ready for their chance to shine on the national stage. Four PGA Members from the Kentucky PGA Section are set to compete in the 52nd PGA Professional Championship at Belfair’s East and West Courses in Bluffton, South Carolina on April 28-May 1.

  • John Bachman, PGA Director of Instruction at Lake Forest Country Club in Louisville
  • John Mullendore, PGA Head Golf Professional at Indian Hills Country Club in Bowling Green
  • Brent Paladino, PGA Executive Director of Golf House Kentucky
  • Andrew Stephens, PGA Director of Instruction at Stephens Golf Academy in Burlington

312 PGA Professionals from across the United States will compete in the most significant tournament for PGA of America Members. All players will play both the West and East Course during the opening two rounds before a 36-hole cut takes the top 90 players and ties. The remainder of the competition will take place on the West Course, with another cut being made after the third round to take the top 70 players and ties. The top twenty PGA Professionals in the field after all four rounds will qualify for this year’s PGA Championship which will be held at Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, New York on May 16-19. Because of the PGA Championship’s move in the schedule from August to May, this will mark the first PGA Professional Championship to be played in the spring rather than the summer.

Golf Channel will have coverage of all four rounds of the competition starting on Sunday night with tape-delayed coverage of round one from 10:00 p.m-12:00 a.m EDT. Live coverage of the second and third rounds on Monday and Tuesday will be shown from 3:00 p.m-6:00 p.m EDT, while Wednesday’s final round will be broadcast from 2:30 p.m-5:30 p.m EDT.

The Kentucky PGA will be monitoring the progress and posting updates of Bachman, Mullendore, Paladino, and Stephens on social media through the Golf House Kentucky profiles on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The KPGA wishes the best of luck to all four players and is grateful for their excellent representation of the Section. For complete coverage of the PGA Professional Championship, click here.
