Invaluable Memories at Valhalla

Each year Kentucky PGA Professionals ask a group of their customers to join them in the ultimate playing experience at Valhalla Golf Club in the PGA REACH Kentucky Pro-Am, presented by ISCO.  This year's event gave the players a little bit of everything to culminate in a terrific day on Monday, August 1.  The morning began with beautiful conditions, breakfast, a photo shoot with the PGA's Wannamaker, Ryder Cup and Bourne trophies, luxury Taylor Made - adidas tee gifts and a terrific send off by National Anthem singer, Dan Weeks and Kentucky Derby Bugler Steve Buttleman.

The 24 teams in the field got about halfway through their round before Mother Nature inserted herself into the situation with a brief but intense storm.  Luckily, players were treated to a golf raffle, where participants of the event had a chance to win Taylor Made - adidas prizes from a year's supply of gloves to a set of M2 Irons.  They were also able to enjoy lunch courtesy of Texas Roadhouse before heading back out to finish the remainder of the round in hot and humid conditions. While on course, aside from enjoying championship competition on the Commonwealth's flagship facility, there were memorable shots for groups to recreate - including J.B. Holmes' chip shot on #4 from the Ryder Cup and Phil Mickelson's long putt on hole #12.  Winners in each group received etched stein glasses for beating out their friends. A very big congratulations goes out to Daniel Kosztowny who not only won among his group, but also won the Overall prize of two tickets to the Ryder Cup in the drawing of all the winners of these two contest holes.

There was more than friendly competition at stake.  The many formats included: the Best Net Ball of the five-person team, Best Gross Ball of the five-person team, Low Gross Amateur Overall, Low Net Amateur Overall and a Professional purse up for grabs. The Professional Purse was split between Big Spring Country Club PGA Assistant Professional John Bachman and Wildwood Country Club PGA Head Professional Blake Watts.  Both gentlemen fired rounds of two-under-par 70.  Low Gross Amateur Overall went to Trey Cox, who fired a stunning round of 65.  Low Net Amateur Overall went to David Rudder with a round of 68.  The Low Gross Team went to Cameron Rutherford, Trey Cox, David Rudder, Rob Hoenscheid and Ron Pinchback who teamed up for a fantastic round of 62.  Watt's Wildwood Country Club Team took home the Low Net Team Honors.  Watts, Richard Chin, Mike Kosztowny, Daniel Kosztowny and Jeff Lansing combined for a stellar round of 55.  Each winning team won crystal and a new Taylor Made M2 Driver.

We would like to thank all of our participants in today's unique event. We know they have a lot of charitable options, however, golf is unique and its participants are passionate about giving back. Whether giving a military hero hope, improving wellness of a child or bringing someone new to the game, our programs positively impact lives in Kentucky. We would also be remiss to not thank our title sponsor, ISCO and Jimmy Kirchdorfer for driving the success of this event.  We would also like to thank supporting partners, Pepsi Co, Sysco, Texas Roadhouse and Taylor Made adidas.
