The 2018 Kentucky PGA tournament season has come to a close and with that we are pleased to announce the 2018 Omega Player of the Year Award Winners for the Member Professionals (Grover Justice), Senior Professionals (T. Bruce Oldendick), and Assistant Professionals (Daniel Iceman). The season long battles witnessed numerous competitors making a run at claiming the top honors for their respected division.

Larry Gilbert Player of the Year - Grover Justice

Click here for 2018 Final Standings Lexington resident Grover Justice of High Performance Golf Academy captured the 2018 Omega Larry Gilbert KPGA Player of the Year award. He finished the year with a total of 8,304 points, 1,550 points more than his closest competitor. A member of the instruction team at High Performance Golf Academy, Justice becomes a repeat winner of the award having also captured the title in 2017. Justice accumulated points in 15 KPGA events during the calendar year, and claimed four victories in the process.  He secured his wins at the KPGA Professional Match Play, Cunningham Pro-Pro Series Championship (individual & team), Mobile Pro Shop 2x2 Pro-Am, and the Titleist | Footjoy Team Championship. He also earned low PGA Professional honors at the KY Open and was the low Kentucky professional at the 2018 PGA Professional Championship. By virtue of earning the Kentucky PGA Player of the Year award, Justice will earn an automatic exemption into the 2019 PGA Tour Barbasol Championship, which will be played July 15-21 at Keene Trace Golf Club.

Senior Player of the Year - T. Bruce Oldendick

Click here for 2018 Final Standings The 2018 Omega KPGA Senior Player of the Year honors goes to first time recipient and Florence, KY native T. Bruce Oldendick. Oldendick earned points in 14 different KPGA events during this past season, where he nabbed two victories and multiple other high finishes. His most impressive win of the season came at the Kentucky PGA Senior Professional Championship, where he captured the title in a playoff over Keith Reese. With the victory, he qualified him to compete in the 2018 PGA Senior Professional Championship in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he made the cut and finished as the low Kentucky professional. He also captured the Senior division title at the Cunningham Pro-Pro Series Championship, where he fired rounds of 70-35 (shortened to 27 holes), and finished 3rd in the 2018 Kentucky Senior Open Championship.

Assistant's Player of the Year - Daniel Iceman

Click here for 2018 Final Standings Daniel Iceman of Shelbyville, Kentucky, earned the honor of 2018 Omega KPGA Assistant Player of the Year. This is the second Assistant's Player of the Year title for Iceman, as he also claimed the award in 2016. Iceman earned points at 11 different events throughout the season and earned a pair of victories at the Kentucky Assistant PGA Professional Championship and the KPGA Pro-Senior. Aside from his victories, Iceman nearly captured the 2018 Kentucky Open, where he finished in a tie for third after shooting a three round total of 13 under-par. Our congratulations to these great champions and we look forward to another terrific year of competition in 2019!
