KPGA Celebrates the Ladies
The KPGA celebrated women's golf with the Pro-Lady Championship at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood on Monday, July 11. 20 4-person teams (consisting of one Kentucky PGA professional and three ladies) teed it up to enjoy an absolutely beautiful morning of golf and fun. There were three formats involved in the Championship: a team championship that counted the best two net balls of the four players, the Professional and the "A" player (the woman with the lowest handicap in the group) in a gross best ball and Low Professional. The weather was so nice, in fact, multiple teams decided to participate in multiple playoffs to end the day. In the 4-person team event, there was a three-way tie for first place with a score of 117 for Team Wildwood (led by PGA Professional, Blake Watts, Kristi Chin, Katie Watts and Lori Manthey) Team Persimmon Ridge (led by PGA Professional, Brian Hollingshead, Angela Pereira, Joyce Leonberger and Karen Aronson) and Team Gibson Bay (led by Scott Webb, Tristyn Nowlin, Holly Knecht and Abby Harrel). Team Wildwood won the playoff on their second hole of play. In the Pro + "A" Team Championship, Watts and Chin faced Webb and Nowlin for top honors. Watts made a gross birdie on the first playoff hole (#10) to seal that victory for their team, also. Not surprisingly, Watts took home Low Professional honors with a round of 67, edging out Webb and Greenbrier Golf and Country Club PGA General Manager, Kelly Williams by two shots. Larue County Country Club PGA Professional Steve Cox and PGA Life Member, Terry Simon tied for Low Senior Professional honors with matching rounds of 74. Congratulations to everyone who participated in this terrific day! A special thanks to Bardstown Country Club at Maywood for always providing a special event for the golfers that are so special to our own facilities!
