Mahan & Massie Successfully Defend Their Pro-Pro Series Championship Title
LEXINGTON, KY (October 27, 2020) – For the second straight year, the KPGA tournament season concludes with Myles Mahan and Jesse Massie in the winner’s circle at the Pro-Pro Series Championship. The Woodhaven duo successfully defended the title they won at Wildwood Country Club last year with a victory at Greenbrier Golf & Country Club on Tuesday in the 36-hole competition. The two-person four-ball competition began yesterday and with its dramatic finish today, the 2020 KPGA tournament season is now complete.
Mahan and Massie prevailed in a four-team playoff to take the title. Their team, along with Grover Justice/Scott Webb, Blake Watts/Logan Watts and Andrew Stephens/Colby Wollitz all finished the competition at 137 (-7). The sudden-death playoff began on the 10th hole with the playoff teams split into two different groups. Justice/Webb and Stephens/Wollitz all made par to begin, but a birdie from Massie in the next group while the Watts brothers also made par solidified the victory for the 2019 champions. The win puts a bow on another successful KPGA campaign for Massie, who had already won the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship and the KPGA Stroke Play Championship to highlight his 2020 in Section competition.
Following a blistering round of 68 (-4) on Monday, a final round 72 (E) from Andrew Stephens guaranteed him the low professional honors with ease. At the tournament’s conclusion, his total score of 140 (-4) put him six shots up over Daniel Iceman III who came in second place.
Bruce Oldendick took low senior honors with a 36-hole score of 149 (+5). That led to a six-stroke margin of victory over runner-up Mike Fields.
