Massie Adds Another Title for 2017
Lexington, KY -- Jesse Massie has already claimed the 2017 KPGA Assistant Champion title earlier this season and now has added the KPGA Assistant Match Play Championship top spot. Massie held off Brad Maynard, Assistant Professional at Shelbyville CC, with a 4 & 2 win at Idle Hour Country Club today. One of the Assistant Professionals at Hurstbourne Country Club, Massie took a serpentine performance during the final match to close out Maynard with a concession putt on Hole #16. After going 2 up after the first two holes, Massie found himself back to all square after the next three holes and stayed that way until a resurgence starting on Hole #8. From there, Massie kept growing the lead until closing out Maynard. Both players played to high caliber of golf over Kentucky's only Donald Ross designed golf course at Idle Hour.
In the third place match, Andrew Stephens, of Stephens Golf Academy, hit his second shot on the first extra hole two feet from the hole to edge out Wildwood CC Assistant Robert Costello.
A great big thanks to the membership and staff at Idle Hour Country Club for hosting this important championship.
