Jesse Massie Wins Second Consecutive National Car Rental Kentucky Assistant PGA Professional Championship
LOUISVILLE, KY (August 10, 2020) - On Monday, many of the Members and Associates of the Kentucky PGA Section were able to demonstrate their playing abilities on two of the state’s finest championship tests. Hunting Creek Country Club in Louisville crowned two champions in the National Car Rental Kentucky Assistant PGA Professional Championship and the Kentucky Women’s PGA Professional Championship, while Dale Hollow State Resort Park in Burkesville could crown a third consecutive winner in the Kentucky Senior PGA Professional Championship tomorrow.
Jesse Massie, Associate Professional at Woodhaven Country Club has taken the title of the National Car Rental Kentucky Assistant PGA Professional Championship for the second consecutive year. After winning last year at Louisville Country Club, Massie successfully defended his title at Hunting Creek on Monday to punch his ticket to the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship once more. Joining Massie at PGA Golf Club in Florida this fall will be Jacob Schakat, PGA Assistant Professional at Indian Hills Country Club. Schakat finished runner-up to Massie, coming three strokes shy of the now two-time reigning champion.

Sara Stephens, PGA General Manager at Stephens Golf Center was victorious in the Kentucky Women’s PGA Professional Championship. It was a three-stroke margin of victory for Stephens over Kim Shafer, PGA Jr. League Administrator.

157 miles south of Hunting Creek, Professionals aged fifty years or older competed at Dale Hollow in the Kentucky Senior PGA Professional Championship. Bruce Oldendick, PGA Head Professional at Pendleton Hills Golf Course got off to a nearly flawless start in his bid to win the Championship for a third straight year. A round of 66 (-6) from Oldendick that featured seven birdies offset by only one bogey has him four strokes clear entering tomorrow’s final round. Richard Schmitt, PGA General Manager at Woodhaven Country Club is his nearest chaser after shooting 70 (-2) on Monday.
