First Amateur Series Event of 2019 Wraps Up at Nevel Meade
Nevel Meade Golf Course in Prospect hosted the first KGA Amateur Series event of 2019 on Tuesday, April 16 in terrific fashion. The inaugural event of the season was highlighted by outstanding conditioning of the golf course and pace of play that was among the best the Amateur Series has had in recent memory. A large field of players teed off from 8:00 a.m until 3:00 p.m and despite chilly conditions in the morning that gave way to a breezy afternoon, some of Kentucky’s finest amateur golfers came up with low scores that signal a great season for the Amateur Series is on the horizon.
The following players came away with the first place prize in their respective division:
Nick Johnston (Open Gross Division) 71 (-1)
Paul Jackson (Open Net Division) 73 (+1)
Lance Lucas (Senior Gross Division) 71 (-1)
Bryan McCoy (Senior Net Division) 68 (-4)
Gary Backlund (Masters Gross Division) 74 (+2)
Rick Adkins (Masters Net Division) 67 (-5)
Dean Keown (Legends Gross Division) 75 (+3)
Jerry Edwards (Legends Net Division) 68 (-4)
NOTE: A player cannot win both the net and gross in the same division. If a player’s gross score would give him the win in both the gross and net divisions, he does win the gross, but the next highest net score is the winner of the net portion.
Golf House Kentucky and the Kentucky Golf Association would like to congratulate each of the eight players for their victories, and also thank Robert Costello, PGA Head Golf Professional and his staff at Nevel Meade for allowing us to open up the season at their facility.
