Nine New Champions Crowned at the Lexington Junior Championship

LEXINGTON, KY- The Lexington Junior Championship concluded on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Kearney Hill Golf Links. Despite the high heat index, nine division champions went home with new hardware. 

Barton Rutledge finished the competition strong with a score of 68 for round two, after tying for third after round one. He birdied the last hole after chipping his ball less than 6 inches from the hole. He finished -5 to be named the 16-18 Champion. For the Girls 16-18 division, Channing Hagen dominated the competition, shooting a total gross score of even par (72). She had a grand total of ten birdies for the duration of the two day championship, leaving her eight strokes ahead of the runner-up competitor

Will Jones in the Boys 13-15 division took home the win after being the only competitor in the division to shoot under par both days. Jones finished with a total gross score of 141 (-3) after carding eight birdies during the two rounds.  

Willa Borough was crowned the Girls 13-15 champion after an impressive two rounds, finishing with a total gross score of 147 (+3). 

Kaden Puyear took home the Boys 11-12 trophy after having a tap-in birdie on number 18 to secure his two-shot lead. Parker Haddix was once again the champion in the Girls 10-12 division, shooting even par for both days to end with a total gross score of 72. 

There was a playoff to determine the Boys 10 & Under champion. Jamison Welch and Harrison Carlton tied after both shooting a total of 79 (+7), though Jamison Welch walked away the champion, making par on hole 10 to secure the playoff.

Bella Wang stood her own after being paired with boys each round of the tournament, and finished with a score of 100 to make her the Girls 9 & Under champion. 

Maximus Schadler had another impressive two rounds, shooting 82 (+10), making him the Boys 8 & Under champion once again.
