Nine New Champions Crowned at the Louisville Junior Championship at Oxmoor

LOUISVILLE, KY- The 2024 Louisville Junior Championship took place at Oxmoor Country Club on July 15th and 16th. With nine different age divisions competing on the course, Junior Golf KY was able to send many winners home on Tuesday. 

After a standout round one shooting 66 and then going out on Hole #9 for an eagle on day two, Xavier Huestis was the clear winner of the Boys 16-18 division. Huestis, the 2023 Jace Bugg award winner, carded nine birdies and an eagle to finish the tournament with a four shot lead. 

Geriann Ackermann was awarded the Girls 16-18 champion after finishing an impressive thirteen shots ahead of the second place finisher in the competition. Ackermann shot even par for round one and finished the tournament with a stellar gross score of 145. 

Brady Faulkner took home the win in the Boys 13-15 division, after shooting 139 for the two days and carding an impressive nine birdies. 

Heidi Mitchell was crowned the Girls 13-15 champion with a total score of +11 to finish out the tournament 5 strokes ahead of the runner up. 

Luke Elliott secured the Boys 11-12 title with a final score of +4 (76) in his last 9-hole tournament before moving up to the Boys 13-15 division later this summer. Matthew White was not far behind, shooting +5 (79) after two days. Parker Haddix walked away the Girls 10-12 champion, shooting an amazing -3 (69) score carding even par for round one and a round of  33 during round two. 

The Boys 10 & Under division saw a fierce competition for the championship. After trading the lead multiple times with his partner and opponent, Mason Day, Jamison Welch clinched the title by winning the final hole, finishing with a total score of 81.

Madeline Sheretz triumphed in the Girls 9 & Under division with an even score of 72, once again impressing the audience with her remarkable skill.

Maximus Schadler stepped away with the Boys 8 & Under win, after shooting a total gross score of 78. The race was tight in the 8 & Under division with all participants scoring neck and neck until the last moment.
