Pohlmann Takes Medalist Honors
It was another gorgeous day for golf when over 25 of the top talents in the senior golf amateur game in the Commonwealth and surrounding areas teed it up in the U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifier at Kearney Hill Golf Links on Wednesday, August 24. They were all chasing the opportunity to showcase their games on the National stage when the 2016 U.S. Senior Amateur is held at Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis on September 17-22. Scores among the field were very close. One stood out among the rest as David Pohlmann of Louisville fired a three-under-par 69. Pohlmann's card featured one eagle, four birdies, ten pars and three bogeys and he was able to play the par 4's in one-under-par. With this solid play, Pohlmann was able to take home medalist honors and earn the spot to Old Warson. Pohlmann also represented Kentucky in the 2013 U.S. Senior Amateur in North Carolina, where he advanced to Match Play. The First Alternate Position went to Chuck Durrant of Bowling Green after a round of even-par 72. Gary Backlund of Mt. Sterling secured the Second Alternate spot after a one-over-par 73. Congratulations to all of our seniors on a terrific day! A special thank you to Kearney Hill Golf Links for always providing us with a Championship venue!
