Previewing the KGA Match Play Championships

LOUISVILLE, KY (July 13, 2020) – One of the most exciting and unique golf tournaments in the Commonwealth begins tomorrow with the Kentucky Match Play Championships. Sixty-six golfers in total will descend upon Nevel Meade Golf Club with three division titles on the line, with each golfer having the goal of being the last man standing in their respective division by week’s end.

Forty players are in the Open Division which will feature players aged 49 years old or younger. This division will be contested solely through gross scores, as will the Senior Division. Eighteen players aged 50 or older will compete in this division while eight other players compete in the Senior Net Division. For those eight players, net scores will be calculated throughout each match to determine victors.

Because of the varying size of each division, there will be a schedule unique to each division over the course of the week.

Senior Division: Stroke play qualifying where the low 16 scores advance to match play.

A stout field comprised of some of the state’s top amateurs have entered in search of the titles with many notable names entered.
