Recapping the 2019 Youth on Course Pro-Am
On Monday, August 5, the Youth on Course Pro-Am presented by ISCO took place at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville. 148 golfers participated in the event which raised money towards the innovative program designed to build interest amongst children in golf through caddie opportunities and discounted rounds at golf courses in their local area.
Four-person teams teed off in shotgun format at 8:00 a.m. EDT and 1:30 p.m. EDT containing one professional and three amateurs. Each professional played their own ball while the best gross score and best net score from the group’s members were utilized to determine a team score. The top three teams from the morning wave and afternoon wave were each presented with awards while the low professional throughout the day was presented with a $5,000 first-place prize.
The team of Ted Schulz, Steve Trager, Joe Pusateri, and Mark Vogt captured the morning wave team prize with a score of 132 (-12) while Fred Allen Meyer, Michael Thorp, Logan Sims, and Swain Beard won the afternoon wave with 131 (-13). Daniel Iceman III won the professional competition with a round of 68 (-4). Iceman prevailed by a stroke which was bolstered by an eagle on Valhalla’s famous par-five 18th hole.
Each player received Titleist golf balls, a Youth on Course headcover and a lunch catered by Texas Roadhouse to go along with their round at Valhalla. John Dettman and Jon Dotterer also won week-long passes to the 2020 PGA Championship which will be contested at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco after winning the morning and afternoon wave’s putting contests on the practice putting green. Jimmy Kirchdorfer was the recipient of a Cleveland golf bag and irons after winning a raffle contest at the end of the competition.
The Kentucky Golf Foundation would like to express its thanks towards all those who made this event possible. The players, Valhalla Golf Club, ISCO, WL Plastics, UBS, Texas Roadhouse, Salsarita’s, Musselman Hotels, MCM, Corvus Capital, Footage, and Clark’s Pump-N-Shop all helped make a positive impact in Youth on Course which will continue to bring more Kentucky children into the game of golf.
