Keith Reese of Louisville, KY shot a round of one under-par 71 to take the lead heading into the final round of the 2018 Kentucky PGA Senior Professional Championship. The tournament, which is being played at Frankfort Country Club in Frankfort, KY, is open to all Kentucky PGA Professionals ages 50 and over and is being played Thursday and Friday, August 23rd and 24th.

After beginning his quest for his first senior professional title with a bogey on the opening hole, Reese rebounded with three birdies in his next six holes. He made the turn in just 34 strokes on the front nine, and held a two shot lead over T. Bruce Oldendick of Florence, KY. Reese stumbled a bit on the back nine with bogies on holes #11, 13 and 14. However, Reese was able to rebound in dramatic fashon, making eagle on the 495 yard par-5 15th hole to get back to one under-par. A trio of pars on the finishing stretch was good enough for the overnight lead and a one stroke advantage.

Reese has a narrow lead over Greg Meadors of Lexington, KY, who shot a round of even-par 72 to stand just one stroke behind. Sitting in third place is Oldendick, who made fifteen pars in his opening round for a score of 73.

Coming off a recent win at the 2018 Kentucky Senior Open Championship, defending champion Barry Bonifield of Louisville, KY currently sits in fourth place after shooting an opening round of 74. Bonifield captured last years championship over Oldendick after shooting a 71 in the final round, the low round of the day by six strokes.

While the title of 2018 Kentucky Senior PGA Professional Champion is on the line, players are also battling for a total of four qualifying spots for the 30th Senior PGA Professional Championship. Successful qualifiers will punch their ticket to the prestigious event, which will take place October 25-28 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Tee times will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning, with the leaders teeing off at 9:40 a.m. Live scoring and complete coverage of the final round will be available at kygolf.org and on social media @golfhouseky.
