Kentucky PGA

Senior "Dream Team" Wins

It was an absolutely gorgeous day for golf for the Kentucky PGA Amazon.com Pro-Senior at Campbellsville Country Club on August 8.  Humidity was low and temperatures were in the mid-80s, a nice change from a sweltering summer.  If you thought that would change the play of some of Kentucky's finest Professionals and senior amateurs, you'd be very wrong.  23 teams competed over 2 shotgun starts at Campbellsville. In the morning wave, the team from Gay Brewer, Jr. Golf Course, led by PGA Head Professional Aaron McDowell, Steve Humphrey, Andy Withrow and Jeff Richie set the tone for the day, posting a commanding 19-under-par round for their one net best plus one best gross ball team score of the four-person team.  If that sounds familiar, it should.  The same team won the Low Net honors earlier this year in the KPGA National Car Rental Pro-Am Series at Andover Golf and Country Club.  The posted a three-shot advantage over the team from LaRue County Country Club, led by PGA Professional, Steve Cox. McDowell also held  the Low Professional clubhouse lead after the morning wave with an even-par 72 and Cox was Low Senior Professional clubhouse leader with a sizzling 69. The afternoon wave of play posted some great rounds, but no one could seem to catch the "dream team" from Gay Brewer, Jr. Golf Course.  The team from Louisville Country Club, headed by Logan Watts, Silas Boyle, Craig Grant and William Crawford was able to finish one shot back. Team Audubon Country Club was able to squeak their way into third, also posting a 128 and beating out LaRue County in a scorecard playoff. Vadden was took home Low Professional honors with a smooth round of four-under-par 68.  He finished one shot ahead of Wildwood's Blake Watts and Louisville Country Club's Chad Douglas.  Cox breezed to Low Senior Professional honors with his excellent early morning round. A special thank you to Campbellsville Country Club and our Business Partners at Amazon.com for a terrific day!
