Lexington, KY - Idlehour Country Club hosted 38 talented young ladies in local qualifying for the 2017 U.S. Girl’s Junior Amateur.  Claire Cameron of Martinsville, IN and Ashley Gilliam of Manchester, TN both shot 1-over par 73 to qualify.  Cameron played a near flawless front nine with a 2-under par 34 thanks to three birdies in the first five holes.  Cameron played very steady on the back side but ran into trouble on the closing holes with a bogey on 17 and a double on 18.  Gilliam played a steady round with two birdies offset by three bogies.

Three tied at 4-over par 76.  In the playoff , Gabriella Tomanka of Grapevine, TX earned the final qualifying position.  Georgetown, KY’s Rylea Marcum earned the 1st alternate position and Sarah Willis of Eaton, OH was the 2nd alternate. Cameron, Gilliam, and Tomanka will now compete in the national championship to be held at Boone Valley Golf Club in August, MO on July 24-29.
