Victors All Around at the 2023 ISCO Industries Youth On Course Pro-Am
LOUISVILLE, KY (August 7, 2023) - The 2023 edition of the ISCO Industries Youth on Course Kentucky Pro-Am saw golfers from Kentucky and outside of the Commonwealth come together at Valhalla Golf Club to celebrate a shared enjoyment of the game and most importantly, grow the game for generations to come.
The Kentucky Golf Foundation is incredibly grateful for the funds raised for one of the KGF’s key initiatives, Youth on Course, during Monday’s play. The program allows junior golfers to play rounds of golf for $5 or less once they become a Youth on Course member.
Thanks to the participation of today’s players, those opportunities will continue to be possible for young people now and in decades to follow. Competition was played through team and low professional (or amateurs playing as professionals) tournaments during the day.
The team competition was contested in the format of teams taking their best gross score and best net score each hole. PGA TOUR player Chip McDaniel and his team of Mark Kirchdorfer, Jon O'Donnell and Clay Uselton, were victorious in the team competition with a score of 20-under par. Their stellar round saw matching scores of 10-under on the front and back nines.
Mackenzie Tour/PGA Latinoámerica player John Clare was the winner on the professional side with a score of a 4-under 67. His mix of birdies and bogeys throughout the round saw him shoot 34 on the front and 33 on the back. The New York native has spent his summer competing in tournaments around Latin America on the tour.
The final division of the tournament was the Amateurs (playing as Pro) competition. Jay Kirchdorfer, shortly off of a T5 finish at the 2023 Kentucky Open, shot a 3-under 68 to win the competition by three. The former University of Kentucky player returns to Rice University in Houston in the fall to continue competing while he pursues his MBA.
More winners were named through a raffle and two closest-to-the-hole contests. Congratulations to raffle winner Josh Walker, who takes home a new set of Callaway Mavrik irons, and to the two contest winners! Chris Carpenter stuck it to 5'4" on hole 8 and Billy Doelker landed 2'11" from the pin on hole 14. Thank you to all who participated!
