Louisville, KY — The opening round of the Kentucky PGA Professional Championship was held Tuesday at University of Louisville Golf Club. Despite the hour long rain delay, the tournament kicked off with a field of golfers anxious to be named the top PGA Professional in the Commonwealth! More so, the competition was fierce as players are vying for the opportunity to advance to next year’s PGA Professional National Championship.
Adam Gary, PGA Professional and WKU Women’s Golf Coach, is leading the competition with 4-under-par 68. Gary opened his round making three birdies in his first four holes. Blake Watts, PGA Head Professional at Wildwood Country Club, was just one shot shy the round one leader, with 3-under-par 69. Watts, the 2016 top PGA Professional is trying for back to back titles. Three PGA Professionals round out third place, all scoring 2-under-par 70. Third place finishers include John Bachman, Director of Instruction at Lake Forest Country Club, Grover Justice, Teaching Professional at High Performance Golf Academy, and Zach Graves, Assistant Golf Professional at Bardstown Country Club.
