LOUISVILLE, KY – Golf House Kentucky is excited to announce Youth on Course as the newest member of Kentucky’s family of golf organizations. The core purpose of Youth on Course in Kentucky is to provide youth ages 6-18 with access to life-changing opportunities through golf.
The initial program is to provide youth with access to golf for $5 or less at more than 20 participating golf courses in Kentucky. Besides having participating courses state-wide, plans include setting up youth for success beyond the green through a caddie academy, paid high school internships, tournament grants, and college scholarships. << Learn how to Join >>
“We were looking for a way to engage our youth beyond a competitive setting,” says Golf House of Kentucky CEO Steve McMillen. “There is not a sport that reflects life more closely than golf, and Youth on Course was a perfect fit to make this all happen.
Born in Northern California, Youth on Course subsidizes greens fees to remove cost as a barrier to entry for youth. Currently, operations are widespread throughout the West coast and Midwest. Kentucky is now the 14th region to offer affordable access through Youth on Course.
Nationwide, nearly 20,000 youth ages 6-18 are active members of Youth on Course and receive affordable access to hundreds of partner courses. Youth on Course is rapidly approaching 500,000 subsidized rounds to date and has awarded more than $1,000,000 in college scholarships.
Youth on Course provided Golf House Kentucky with an 18-month administration and financial grant to fund Youth on Course in Kentucky initial. Long-term funding will be accomplished through the Kentucky Golf Foundation, the 501©3 affiliate of Golf House Kentucky.
“Golf House of Kentucky has always prioritized growing golf through financial accessibility,” says Youth on Course Executive Director Adam Heieck. “We’re thrilled to help them build upon that mantra and develop relationships with young people who might not have otherwise entered the sport.”
Joining is easy! Youth on Course membership is $5 and is good for a calendar year. In order to join, youth must be at least 6 years old, but not yet in college. After signing up, youth complete a brief curriculum, which gets them a membership card. From there, youth can hit the links and play for $5 or less at participating courses! As an added benefit of becoming a member, youth also secure membership with the Kentucky Golf Association, which gives them the ability to play tournaments and establish a golf handicap. << Join Today >>
